Role Summary
This position is responsible for strategically leading the UPL business in East Africa and Indian Ocean Islands to ensure the delivery of the business units budgets in terms of Revenue EBITDA and Working Capital in line with the agreed strategic plan of the organization. The incumbent of this position would be responsible to develop strategic and growth business plans including annual operational plans budget and performance targets and acquisitions for the approval of the UPL EXCO. The formulation and implementation of the Go to Market Strategy would form part of the requirements of this position. Other responsibilities of the
position would include: To Develop/Promote and enhance the UPL culture and Values Lead and develop the current team and ensure the relevant succession /development plans are formulated and implemented to ensure a robust pool of future leaders and to Represent UPL in Industry forums
Responsibilities
Financial
- Quarterly & Annual Review (EBITDA & working capital)
- Ensure companys commercial viability and profitability
- Financial management of the organisation to deliver agreed budgets.
Customer
- Negotiate agreements with commercial partners
- Business development identify growth and acquisition opportunities
- Formulate the Go to Market Strategy
Process/ Operation
- Ensure proper management operational efficiency and corporate reporting (permanent monitoring)
- Promote best practices in the business process to support achievement of the companys objectives
- Strategy formulation and priorities for the business to achieve business goals

- Ensure clear communication (targets strategy process and key Behaviors)

Accountable for managing people setting direction and deploying resources; is responsible for performance evaluations pay reviews and hire/fire decisions.
Accountable for business functional or operational areas processes or programs.
Effectively manage the work and development of your direct reports by conducting (at a minimum) an annual performance evaluation for each direct report by annual due date; ensure each report has performance goals identified and entered by annual due date; a successor for each direct report has been identified; all reports have an updated Employee profile; and a minimum of one professional development discussion is held annually with development goals documented accordingly.
