What you will be doing:

  • Performing failure analysis
  • Engineering and inspection reviews
  • Assisting with mechanical integrity audits
  • Performing fitnessforservice life assessments
  • Conducting risk evaluations
  • Participating in onsite accident and incident investigations of industrial locations
  • Initiating promotional activities
  • Overseeing and performing laboratory testing as needed
  • Conducting research and development
  • Writing and presenting findings from investigations
  • Providing legal and consulting services as needed

Experience you will need:

  • At least a bachelors degree in materials metallurgical or mechanical engineering. A masters degree or PhD would be preferred.
  • Registered as a professional engineer
  • 6 to 12 years of experience in establishing mechanical integrity controls performing failure analysis life assessments and incident investigations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills for interactions with technical personnel government agencies and managers
  • Experience establishing mechanical integrity and inspection programs
  • Experience working with various structural materials and an understanding of basic failure mechanisms and fracture behavior
  • Familiarity with standard metallurgical lab equipment polishing practices optical and scanning electron microscopes material testing and inspection techniques
  • Experience working with various metal alloy systems polymeric materials and coatings
  • Experience working with industrial equipment including piping pressure vessels and rotating and fixed equipment
