Job Description

We are hiring a Health Data Specialist II for one of our clients in Trenton NJ.

Job Description:

  • Under the supervision of a Research Scientist I in the Center for Health Statistics and Informatics the Health Data Specialist 2(HDS2) will serve as the data steward for the New Jersey Behavioral Risk Factor Survey (NJBRFS).
  • In this capacity the HDS2 will create and maintain health data information systems for the collection analysis and dissemination of data for NJBRFS.
  • The position will interface with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the interview contractor through regularly scheduled meetings to ensure the collection of timely and accurate data.
  • TheHDS2 will develop and run quality control checks of program data on a monthly basis using SAS or other software as available to assess progress towards meeting project goals with respect to the quantity and quality of data collected.
  • The position will be responsible for maintain the NJBRFS metadata base in Access or other suitable software; maintaining the master variable codebook; and updating the online question search tool.
  • The HDS2 will respond to ad hoc data requests from state offices communitybased agencies local health department or other public health entities and assist in creating presentations or reports for professional meetings conferences or publication.
  • As the data steward theHDS2 will be responsible for tracking and transmitting project data to researchers for IRB approved studies.

Experience required:

  • Three (3) years of comprehensive technical research and statistical analysis experience in epidemiology public health economics public health administration or related field which involves the use operation and/or management of database systems.

Education required:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree including or supplemented by twelve (12) semester hour credits in Epidemiology Public Health Health Informatics Health Information Management Economics Statistics Quantitative Analysis Operations Research and/or Market Research.

  • Lunch period: 1hour (Unpaid)
  • Work from Office or Remote: Hybrid (Office and Field)
