IAA is looking for a qualified Senior Database Administrator to join our Information Technology team.

The primary responsibilities are administration support and development of Microsoft SQL Server version 2019 in a high availability environment.
Perform SQL database administration tasks:
Monitoring and tuning all SQL databases to ensure availability
Monitoring production databases and data processing jobs
Implementing and administering database replication
Troubleshooting performance issues relating to indexes finetuning queries and stored procedures
Coordinating database checkpoint frequencies archive logging resource usage with programmers and system Administrators
Creating capacity planning forecast
Establishing and maintaining customtailored backup/restore procedures and disaster recovery plans for Production Servers.
Enhancing system availability
24 X 7 Production support
Serve as a point of escalation
Provide support to Application Development Groups in the following ways:
Providing logical database structures alternatives
Creating a physical database design
Helping with construction testing and installation
Ensuring application performance integrity and availability
Proficient with system development techniques and tools
SQL Server Software Maintenance:
Installing configuring securing SQL Production servers
Upgrading databases from earlier versions to the latest versions
Applying MS maintenance fixes
Providing technical support to the application developers
Reviewing new databases that come with purchased packages
Skills and Qualification Requirements:
Experience supporting mission critical production systems is required.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills including the ability to communicate effectively with peers other application teams and clients.
Provide direction to application development team(s)
Organization and time management skills are critical.
Must continue to enhance technical knowledge and skills through research and experimentation inhouse and
Education/Certification Requirements:
Candidate must have a 4 year degree (or equivalent experience)
7 years of MS SQL Server Administration experience required
Requires solid knowledge of MS SQL Server programming and administration for mission critical systems

There is also a second phase to this technology platform aimed at incorporating service now from the parent company KAR in Q3 2016. There will be a level of involvement with this platform in order to do so.

Business Challenge
There are a backlog of automation and monitoring projects in which IAA wants to provide more customization across the environment in support of the 1921 application teams infrastructure supports.
There are performance issues with applications that are leveraged by employees at Branch locations. There is no dedicated leader to ensuring that resources are leveraged both from a business and application development perspective to get things done. Reports are generated monthly and its become challenged to have the buyin to be more so proactive in solving issues before real risks come to fruition.
