Director of Credit Risk

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Group Credit Risk Officer you will lead the Credit Risk team in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This role will play a critical part in ensuring the organizations financial stability by proactively identifying measuring and mitigating credit risks associated with their operations.

Your daily adventures include:

• Oversee all aspects of the credit risk management process ensuring adherence to credit policies and procedures.
  
• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive credit risk framework tailored to the unique dynamics of the DRC market.
  
• Build and manage a highperforming Credit Risk team providing coaching and guidance to ensure consistent and accurate risk assessments.
  
• Analyze creditworthiness of potential borrowers and counterparties recommending appropriate credit limits and risk mitigation strategies.
  
• Monitor existing credit exposures identify and manage delinquent accounts and work collaboratively with collections teams to recover outstanding debts.
  
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across various departments including underwriting finance and operations.
  
• Regularly report on credit risk metrics to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices in credit risk management.
  
• Identify and implement new technologies and tools to enhance credit risk management processes.
  

What it takes to succeed:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in credit risk management preferably within the financial services industry in Africa.
  
• Minimum of Honours University Degree in a businessrelated field preferably Commerce Accounting Economics or Statistics.
  
• Experience in Commercial banking lending at least 5 years of which must have been in head office Credit.
  
• Exposure to both Corporate & Retail lending will be an added advantage.
  
• Any professional course in banking/credit ACCA or CPA or a post graduate degree in Finance/Strategy will be an added advantage.
  
• Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing credit risk frameworks.
  
• Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to assess complex financial information.
  
• Excellent communication interpersonal and presentation skills.
  
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and credit risk management software.
  
• Fluency in French and English is a strong plus.
  
• Understanding of the DRCs economic and regulatory environment is desired
