Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting Finance
- CPA preferred with 4 years of Tribal Accounting experience.
- 7 years’ experience in accounting (minimum of 5 years management experience)

About the Role
The Controller is a supervisory role with comprehensive responsibility for the Tribal Office's financial affairs. This position oversees the daily operations of the accounting and finance functions utilizing available resources to address financial matters both large and small ensuring the organization's ongoing success.
Responsibilities
- Oversee budget management monthly reporting and audits.
- Apply indepth knowledge of Tribal Government Governmental Accounting Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Ensure all Accounting Department activities are accurate and timely.
- Maintain and enforce proper internal controls including segregation of duties.
- Coordinate yearly audits and prepare the Tribal budget.
- Prepare and present financial analysis and operational results to the Tribal Council.
- Delegate monitor and coordinate accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of reports.
- Oversee performance appraisals and disciplinary procedures for accounting employees to ensure fair and consistent administration.
- Collaborate closely with the Contracting Officer regarding all Grants and Contracts.
- Analyze and report monthly financial information and operational results to the Tribal Council.
- Approve and process all tax payments and Federal Tax Deposits promptly.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with employees supervisors managers potential new hires and visitors.
- Knowledge of quarterly and annual tax preparation.
- Proficiency in current accounting software (MIP preferred) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Analytical planning business writing and presentation skills required.
