Job Summary:
The Hydro Project Engineer will lead hydro turbine control design projects and business development activities. The role involves ensuring that the companys products and services meet customer requirements and industry standards aiming for the highest reliability. The engineer will also represent the company within the hydro industry to promote the acceptance of its products and services.
Essential Duties:
- Provide engineering expertise and project management for hydro projects.
- Identify and support new application opportunities and potential product improvements assisting with implementation strategies.
- Structure proposals to effectively meet market needs.
- Oversee engineering design and project management for hydro controls and hydromechanical control projects ensuring compliance with requirements and specifications.
- Offer site design oversight and consulting services to support customer needs for hydro installations.
- Conduct training for customers engineers and industry associations to enhance market acceptance of the companys products and services.
- Support the services organization to improve profitability and market expertise.
- Manage budgeting and performance of any direct reports.
- This role requires over 35% travel across the US.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.)
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred
- Over 15 years of experience in engineering solutions for hydro turbine control applications
- At least 10 years of experience in leading hydro controls and mechanical retrofit projects
- Ability to travel to customer sites to oversee and complete equipment installations perform system startups maintenance and repairs and provide customer instructions.
- Proficient in computer skills
- Physical ability to work onsite in hydropower plants and control room environments
