Seamstress

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Seamstress to join our team. The Seamstress will be responsible for constructing altering and repairing garments according to specifications. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship attention to detail and the ability to work with various fabrics and designs.

Key Responsibilities:

Garment Construction:

• Cut sew and assemble garments based on patterns and design specifications.
  
• Measure clients and mark fabric accurately to ensure a proper fit.
  
• Use sewing machines and hand stitching techniques to construct garments.
  

Alterations and Repairs:

• Perform alterations to existing garments including hemming taking in or letting out seams and adjusting garment lengths.
  
• Repair damaged garments such as replacing zippers buttons and linings.
  
• Make fit adjustments based on client feedback.
  

Pattern Making and Fabric Cutting:

• Draft drape and develop patterns from scratch or adapt existing patterns.
  
• Cut fabric pieces accurately according to patterns.
  
• Ensure fabric patterns are matched and aligned properly.
  

Quality Control:

• Inspect finished garments for quality and consistency.
  
• Ensure all garments meet the companys standards for craftsmanship and durability.
  
• Make necessary corrections to meet quality standards.
  

Client Consultation:

• Communicate with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
  
• Provide expert advice on fabric selection garment care and design options.
  
• Schedule fittings and follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction.
  

Inventory and Maintenance:

• Maintain an inventory of fabrics threads and sewing supplies.
  
• Keep sewing machines and other equipment in good working condition.
  
• Order supplies as needed and ensure the workspace is clean and organized.
  

Requirements

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in sewing fashion design or a related field is preferred.
  

Experience:

• Proven experience as a seamstress or tailor; experience in a similar role within the fashion industry is a plus.
  

Skills:

• Proficiency in using sewing machines and hand stitching tools.
  
• Strong understanding of garment construction fitting and alteration techniques.
  
• Ability to read and interpret patterns and design specifications.
  
• Excellent attention to detail and precision in sewing.
  
• Good time management and organizational skills.

Location: Accra Central

Salary Range: GHS1000.00 GHS 1500.00
