Job Description:
Performs analytical procedures recognizes deviations and provides interpretation following standards and practices with minimal supervision.
Primary Duties:
Operates instruments and conducts procedures as trained following protocols and performing maintenance tasks.
Maintains accurate quality control records identifying and addressing outofcontrol results.
Responds to inquiries regarding results ensuring patient confidentiality and effective communication with healthcare teams.
Conducts routine inquiries and data input on laboratory computer systems.
Instructs and educates new employees and students as needed.
Processes biological specimens solving related problems following established procedures.
Adheres to hospital and departmental policies accreditation requirements and participates in quality improvement.
Drafts and reviews procedures participates in method evaluations as requested.
Acts as a team leader when assigned directing activities and providing guidance in the absence of supervisors.
Performs other directed duties.
Job Requirements:
MT Education/Certification:
Bachelor s degree or in final semester of an accredited MT/MLS Bachelor degree program.
Must have MT/MLS (ASCP) or equivalent registry within one year of hire.
Previous clinical experience required.
MLT Education/Certification:
Associate degree or equivalent in laboratory science.
Must be MLT (ASCP) registered or registry eligible within one year of hire.
Previous clinical experience required.
Overall Requirements for MLT and MT:
Must be physically capable and possess effective interpersonal skills.
Able to tolerate exposure to various hazards and differentiate colors.
Occasionally lift lightweight materials up to 50 pounds.
Proficient in computer usage.
