Job Title: Lead Software Engineer
Client: Health Care Insurance Company
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Washington DC 20065
Purpose: Support software development using COBOL for the Member Transition/USPS project in a missioncritical enrollment system.
Responsibilities: - Lead design coding code review and testing of applications.
- Provide estimates resource/time allocations follow project lifecycle and implement software using agile methods.
- Clarify requirements and recommend technical solutions.
Testing Support: - Assist teams and clients in resolving test problems during development.
Qualifications: Required:
- BA/BS in Information Systems or equivalent.
- 8 years as a lead/senior software engineer with:
- COBOL
- CICS
- TSO/ISPF
- JCL
- DB2
- QMF
- Rocket Shuttle
- MVS Utilities
- Xpediter
- FileAid AbendAid
- Scripting tools
- Micro Focus/Serena ChangeMan
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Eclipse MyEclipse or Topaz/DevX Workbench IDE
- Jira or similar agile tracking software
Skills:
- Mainframe application development.
- Knowledge of COBOL under CICS and batch applications.
- Strong DB2 skills including complex queries and embedded SQL.
- Testing best practices.
- Problemsolving analytical and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with structured programming.
- Minimal supervision needed.
- JAVA experience is a plus.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Kanban and Agile.
- Enrollment software development experience.
- Insurance/healthcare industry experience.
