OCU continues on a Journey of Substantial growth throughout 2024. We are looking for an experienced Fibre Planning Coordinator to join the team at our Finchampstead office.
As a Fibre Planning Coordinator you will play a key role in coordinating the planning and design activities for fibre optic network projects. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure that fibre deployments are efficiently planned accurately designed and effectively executed. This role requires strong organisational skills attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the planning and design activities for fibre optic network projects ensuring that project milestones are met and deliverables are produced on time and within budget.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders including project managers network engineers and operations teams to gather project requirements and translate them into detailed planning specifications.
- Allocate resources including personnel equipment and materials to support fibre planning activities. Coordinate with external vendors and contractors to ensure timely availability of resources as needed.
- Assist in the development of fibre optic network plans and designs considering factors such as coverage requirements capacity constraints and regulatory considerations.
- Utilise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to create and maintain accurate maps and drawings of fibre optic network infrastructure including route paths splice locations and termination points.
- Liaise with local authorities regulatory bodies and other stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals for fibre optic deployments. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of fibre optic network plans designs permits and approvals. Organise and manage project documentation in accordance with company standards and procedures.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of fibre optic network designs and plans to identify any discrepancies or potential issues. Work with engineering teams to resolve issues and ensure that designs meet required standards.
- Communicate project status milestones and issues to relevant stakeholders through regular meetings reports and updates. Provide timely responses to inquiries and requests for information.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a coordination or planning role within the telecommunications or utilities sector preferably involving fibre optic network projects.
- Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams and external partners.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and highquality work.
- Knowledge of fibre optic technology network architecture and industry standards is desirable but not essential.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools is advantageous.
