Server Analyst - Intermediate

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Team Lead Server Operations Technology and Innovation the Intermediate Server Analyst (Infrastructure) shall be responsible for daytoday operations within the client Server Environment focusing on windows virtual server support activities. The role is to assist in the daily operational support of a virtual server environment with a focus on a VMware virtualized hosting infrastructure. Excellent customer focus and client service skills a proven ability to function in both individual and team environments and exceptional technical troubleshooting and problem resolution skills are desired.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for proactively maintaining and improving the server core infrastructure functionality and to work within existing procedures and guidelines to meet client business requirements.
• Perform problem diagnosis troubleshooting and resolution.
• Perform hardware and OS installations migrations and/or upgrades.
• Plan for software and hardware upgrades and/or migrations.
• Develop and maintain documentation.
• Maintain operating systems and associated infrastructure software.
• Develop system related procedures.
• Provide cross training and knowledge transfer to other server team members on relevant aspects of hardware and software support.

Requirements:

• Proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following: University graduation in Computing Science or a related discipline and 2yr Server Analyst experience; OR 2yr diploma in Computing Science or a related discipline and 4yr Server Analyst experience; OR 1yr certificate in Computing Science or a related discipline and 5yr Server Analyst experience; OR 7yr Server Analyst experience.
• Proposed resource has agreed to an Enhanced Security Check upon contract award. Must have the last 3 years continuous residency in either Canada or United States as minimum.
• Proposed resource must work from within Edmonton or Calgary due to datacenter proximity.
• Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and/or during block time/change windows outside of normal Alberta business hours (8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Alberta time Monday to Friday).
• Experience performing upgrades of Windows Server versions 2012 or 2016 to Windows Server versions 2019 or 2022
• Experience provisioning and supporting VMware ESXi 7.0 in an environment of 20 or more hosts.
• Industry experience working as a server support analyst supporting Windows 2019 or 2022.
• Able to participate in a 7/24/365 on call rotation.
• Experience automating tasks within Windows and vCenter utilizing PowerShell Terraform Ansible or other.
• Experience deploying updates using a centralized patch management tool (Ivanti SCCM WSUS LCM or other).
• Experience managing resource capacities in a VMware ESXi environment.
• Experience upgrading Windows servers
• Experience using HP OneView to manage C7000 blade enclosures and Synergy Frames.
• Experience with HP server hardware: C7000 blade enclosures Synergy Frames and their related compute modules.
• Experience with Service Now or alternative ticker management system for Change Management Incident Management and Service Requests.
• Hands on experience working in a complex environment requiring prioritization of tasks and deliverables.
• Hands on experience working in a multiteam IT support environment providing services to other teams and clients.
• Industry experience working as a server support analyst supporting Azure Stack HCI.
