Job Description

AMI is looking for a competent Translator to join our team on a consultant basis. The ideal applicant will translate entrepreneurship and workplace learning content material from English to Tigrinya. They should be fluent in both languages have a solid experience in translation and enjoy working in a lively fastpaced workplace. This would be parttime work available on a project basis.

  1. Translation: Accurately translate resources from English to Tigrinya while preserving the content s context style and tone.

  2. Proofreading: Thoroughly edit translated materials to ensure language accuracy and consistency.

  3. Cultural Adaptation: Ensure that the translated materials are culturally relevant and appropriate for the intended audience.

  4. Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks on translated content and make necessary revisions to maintain standards of quality.

  5. Collaboration: Effectively collaborate with the content development team and other stakeholders to ensure communication and teamwork.

  6. Technology Familiarity: Utilize translation software and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in the translation process.

  7. Meeting Deadlines: Effectively prioritize translation assignments to meet project deadlines.



Requirements

  1. Educational Background: Proficiency and experience in Kinyarwanda language and translation with a preference for native or nearnative fluency in English and Tigrinya.

  2. Experience in Translation: A minimum of 2 years of experience in translation is required.

  3. Familiarity with Translation Tools: Having knowledge of translation software and tools including AI would be advantageous.

  4. Experience with collaboration tools like Google Workspace and other platforms for collaboration.

  5. Meticulous in ensuring topnotch translations and paying attention to detail.

  6. Cultural Sensitivity: Awareness of cultural nuances and the ability to adapt content accordingly.

  7. Time management: High aptitude for managing time well enough to manage several projects at once.

  8. Communication Skills: Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
