Job Description

Role: The Dean of Function is the Head Authority of the College and will work in the respective disciplines towards the achievement:

# Become a pioneering world class centre of excellence

# Nurture effective capabilities for the development of highquality manpower to meet the challenges of modern Science and Technology

# Provide cost effective solutions and valueadded services to a variety of organizations

# Foster learning and creative community that will continuously strive to advance the frontiers of knowledge and promote the application of Science Engineering and Technology for the betterment of society by providing the necessary leadership and planning within the broad policy framework set by the Board of Management and overall direction by the ViceChancellor of the Institute.

The role reports to the ViceChancellor. The Dean will act as an interface between the management and the staff of the function for effective functioning of the function.

Responsibilities:

  • The Dean should be able to supersede a team of more 500 odd employees in the organization.
  • The Dean will motivate his/her Employees and get the best out of them so that the function will get international recognition within a short time as a Centre of Excellence in teaching research and industrial consultancy.
  • The Dean will act as Facilitator and a catalyst for external resource generation by the Faculty of the function through funded Projects and Consultancy.
  • The Dean is the custodian and overseer of the quality standards of education research and value system within the function which should be in consonance with those of other functions within the Institute and those of the Institute itself. The Dean of a function should therefore work in close cooperation and coordination with the Management Vice Chancellor and other Heads of the Function.
  • Must have:

    Applicants should have least 10 years of work experience working in a large educational preferably a University setup. The person should have a PhD degree in the relevant area of specialization.

    Prior experience in higher educational academic management and administration in a University setup is mandatory. We are also be interested in people with backgrounds in public service management and other fields with the abovementioned attributes.

    Should have strong research credentials and citation.

    Wellversed in current best practices and trends in the external marketplace. Understands the impact and benefits that new practices could bring to the organization and is willing to implement changes when beneficial.

    As an integral member of the companys senior leadership team the candidate must exemplify the highest standards of honesty integrity and discretion.

    High on compliance ethics and value systems. Culturally aligned with an ability to build trust and confidence with all stakeholders.

    A leader who is energetic with passion and drive and a good team player.

    Pronounced communication negotiation and presentation skills; ability to interface effectively.

    A highly strategic business partner who thinks about the business first and carefully relates the business strategy to the financial strategy.

    Takes on and exploits opportunities to exceed goals and works towards them even under adverse circumstances and is able to describe the possible risks and benefits.

    Capable of working under great pressure with equanimity to manage a considerable volume of information and priorities.
