Join a reputable and dynamic law firm in the heart of Ottawa that specializes in personal injury law. Our firm is dedicated to providing exceptional legal services to clients and advocating for their rights with professionalism and compassion. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Personal Injury Lawyer to join our team and contribute to our ongoing success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of personal injury files including motor vehicle accidents slips and falls medical malpractice and other related claims.
- Conduct client consultations to evaluate potential cases and provide legal advice.
- Draft review and file legal documents including pleadings motions discovery requests and settlement agreements.
- Represent clients in court mediation arbitration and other legal proceedings.
- Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and insurance companies.
- Collaborate with legal assistants paralegals and other support staff to ensure efficient case management.
- Maintain uptodate knowledge of relevant laws regulations and legal precedents.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and excellent client service.
- Participate in business development and marketing activities to promote the firms services.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from an accredited law school.
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- 36 years of experience practicing personal injury law with a proven track record of handling complex cases.
- Strong litigation skills including experience with trials motions and other court proceedings.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong negotiation and problemsolving skills.
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
- Proficiency in legal research and familiarity with legal software and case management systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with medical malpractice and catastrophic injury cases.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
- Strong community involvement and professional network in the Ottawa region.
