Job Description

As a Residential Landscape Architect youll collaborate with your design team to design and sell luxury outdoor living spaces pools and landscapes to discerning homeowners in the Kansas City metro area. Youll be part of the Core Leadership Team at one of the nations premier luxury residential design/build firms where youll help shape an impactful future for yourself and others. At High Prairie Outdoors youll have access to our own inhouse construction specialists fine gardeners and comprehensive project programs. A person who thrives in this role will have a drive and passion for enhancing outdoor spaces without settling for mediocracy or cutting corners. Reports to: CEO

Role and Responsibilities

Design

  • Key design leader on assigned projects including concept design creation setting budget goals final design preparation and design revisions

  • Lead a 23 person team to collaborate on each project and ensure timelines processes and quality standards are upheld. (Site analysis estimating and base maps are done by your team members in almost all cases.)

  • Participate in design reviews both as a leader and as someone who has their designs reviewed for the growth of our team

  • Promote the forward progression of style and quality standards our organization is known for

  • Utilize Structure Studios software for designs. (This can be trained if needed)

  • Uses sound horticultural and design knowledge to create designs with an elevated level of function and style.

Sales

  • Key client facing member of the design team responsible for client communication setting expectations and following our proven design/sales program. Provides consistent updates and is responsive to both clients and team members.

  • Leads the sales initiative by taking ownership of the team sales goal and closing sales

  • Establishes scope expectations budgets and timelines with the client

  • Qualifies clients and pursues leads in a timely manner

  • Sells both design packages and construction projects during the sales process

  • Manages and collects client payments based on invoice terms and timelines

  • Schedules client garden walks and project completion walks in a timely manner

  • Participates in scheduled weekly meetings and committees as assigned or volunteered

  • Drive growth and engagement

Marketing/Business Development

  • Assist with the marketing and business development iniitiaves as needed

  • Network and build strategic relationships with key collaborators

  • Attend events as a representative of the company

  • Implement the company Discovery Kit and Legacy Club Programs with your team

  • Pursue feedback and customer reviews using the companys systems

Project Coordination

  • Collaborates with the production team to provide a seamless experience for clients by providing clear timely answers and feedback as needed

  • Helps introduce the client to the project manager and provide updates or answers as required

  • Oversee change orders as requested


Leadership

  • Assists in the development of the companys strategic plan

  • Participates in the companys Core Leadership Team meetings and initiatives

  • Assists in the implementation and improvement of companys processes

  • Assists in the development of the companys training goals marketing plan and business development initiatives

  • Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies procedures and SOPs

  • Coordinates the sales team in daily workloads timelines and projections

  • Reports on progress for pipeline and sales actions

  • Continuing education requirement: The minimum hours required to maintain your LSA License



Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of design experience in the Green Industry

  • Minimum of three years using a CAD based software Sketchup or Structure Studios

  • Have a minimum of a bachelors or masters degree in Landscape Architecture

  • Hold a current LSA License and continue to maintain that license

  • Experience with operating common computer programs and willingness to learn our custom software and CRM

  • Has a portfolio of at least five luxury residential designs that were installed with photographs of the completed jobs

  • Ability to present and close sales with a proven history of sales

  • Proficient in both oral and written forms of communication

  • A willingness to work as part of our design team where every project is a collaboration between a design assistant lead designer (or architects) and estimator

  • A growth mindset and willingness to collaborate on design feedback through a design review process

  • Able to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner

  • Familiarity with all components of outdoor living design pool design and construction methods

  • A willingness to continue customer engagement on current and past customers and develop new opportunities

  • Must have the ability to selfmanage and work independently without micromanagement

  • Must have the ability to delegate to a sales team and manage workloads

  • Have a valid drivers license and must be insurable by the companys insurance policy

  • Has a clean criminal record

  • A passion and desire to positively impact the lives of our team and clients while growing the organization as part of our leadership team



Benefits

  • Eligible for health dental and vision insurance after initial period of employment.

  • Eligible for retirement account with up to a 4% company match after initial period of employment.

  • Holiday pay for all employees after 60 days of employment. Includes 8 paid days

  • PTO: 15 days per year based on accrual with additional days as tenure increases

  • Eligible for the Recovery Day program where up to six additional paid days can be earned per year

  • 5 day work week
