Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Main purpose of the job:
- Responsible for providing manufacturing engineering support to current production lines.
Main missions and results:
- Define the equipment specifications TPM and autonomous checks required
- Commission and set up the equipment
- Train the relevant personnel in the operation and maintenance of the equipment.
- Liaise with all equipment manufacturers and as necessary to commission maintain and improve the operational efficiency of the process
- Liaise with the Maintenance team to maintain all facilities and equipment ensuring minimal disruption to production
- Liaise with outside contractors if required
- Organise the reordering of any spare parts required
- Create and maintain the PFMEA and Control Plan
- Undertake continuous improvement activities (layout process manning etc.) to improve efficiency in the Manufacturing Area
- Interface with the Production team to resolve issues and ensure the optimum efficiency of the Cockpit and Console lines. Take a leading role in OEE improvement by facilitating improvement meetings attended by key supporting departments
- Organise annual service contract with key suppliers
- Interface with Product Engineering
- Ensure compliance to ISO 14001 and 18001 Standards
- Take a handson leadership role in the continuation of the Shop Logix installation program extending to training key users into how the system is used
Empowerment
- Is authorised to immediately stop work if an immediate threat to life health or fire hazard is detected.
Quality
- Has an understanding of functional relevant clauses within IATF 16949.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- It is desirable but not essential that candidates are certified to Degree level with previous experience of lean manufacturing preferably within a high volume automotive manufacturing environment.
- However it is essential that the candidate has a thorough understanding of the technical workings of the Cockpit and Console Facilities. These include AGV technology DC Tooling / torque integrity knowledge Automated Vision System capture EOL Electrical Test and Desoutter MES programming.
- Experience of ISO/TS 16949 and Q1/SIM is desirable.
- Essential that the candidate has had previous experience in training and developing personnel.
- Candidates must be PC literate have excellent organisational and communicational skills as well as a strong sense of urgency and an ability to work under pressure.
- They must be confident decision makers and proactive problem solvers (8D Six Sigma) with a handson approach.
- It is preferable if the candidate is proficient in AutoCAD.
- They must have the ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.
