Job Description

Job Summary: This individual will be responsible for performing the technical aspects of assigned tests in compliance with GLP USDA and AAALAC guidelines.

Essential Job Functions:
Performs various tests that may include injections patching and wrapping implantation of test substances observations necropsies and withdrawing and collecting bodily fluids following internal SOP/protocol guidelines.
Handles animals humanely.
Prepares animals for testing which may include shaving weighing identifying and anesthetizing the animals.
Works on routine assignments per written procedures where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
Works under close supervision from supervisor or senior personnel.
Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.
May be required to work Holidays and weekends.
May be required to work overtime.
Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.
Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations International Standards and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Other duties as assigned.
May be required to assist in other departments.



Requirements

Job Requirements:
Experience / Education
Minimum 1 year of experience
Animal Science background
GLP/GMP experience
Associates Degree or equivalent
CVT certification preferred
AALAS certification preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
Need to be able to read write and understand English
Proficient in Microsoft (Excel Word Outlook)

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work in a Lab setting with exposure to animals/bio hazards/chemical
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
Must be able to work in environment with minimal noise levels
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Clarity of vision
Ability to identify and distinguish colors
Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
Ability to lift 25 lbs routinely/often/occasionally
Ability to crouch bend twist and reach
Ability to push/pull 25 lbs routinely/often occasionally
Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing
Inside working conditions
Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility
