Job Description

Our client is an european utility company. They actively manage a wide range of utility scale energy assets focused on solar PV onshore wind and storage solutions. They are looking to build their Chilean team by hiring highly ambitious people who care about making a difference as they move towards a sustainable energy transition. The team is being structured to support their rapid growth ambitions and longterm ownership of energy assets. They are currently looking several positions and one of them is a Solar Project Engineer to join the project/construction management team. The successful candidate will manage with the support of the PM all aspects of the assigned PV projects throughout their life cycle and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget while minimizing risks and maximizing margins on a variety of solar energy projects across Chile.

Some responsibilities include:

  1. Work with the engineering and development teams to conduct site investigation and assess the technical feasibility of developing a specific solar PV project.
  2. Control the development process of the project.
  3. Manage the EPC contract & change orders and supervise all contractors works.
  4. Develop and maintain project timeline & key milestones for projects success.
  5. Communicate with utilities and authorities regarding interconnection permitting and other regulatory compliance issues.
  6. Communicate with all stakeholders and be the main contact with the EPC Contractor.
  7. Supervise & lead the project team Construction Logistics HSE & Quality assurance.
  8. Prepare all projects progress reports.
  9. Manage all project meetings with the Contractor.
  10. Review verify and approve the Contractors progress billings.
  11. Identify the sources of likely problems and proactively take preventive measures to avoid any potential project risks and determine response actions to mitigate any negative impact.

The perfect candidate is a Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineer (or related studies) with at least 2 years of solar/PV (30 MWp) construction experience. Mandatory to have good level in; (i) MS Office (specially Excel and PowerPoint) (ii) Autocad and (ii) MS Project. Must have a good level in English (enough to have conversations in English). Must have Indepth knowledge of National Electrical Code solar permitting and other PV system regulatory codes.

The job is based in Santiago (Chile) but he must visit the site regularly. It is likely that you may be required to travel to other locations in Latin America based on opportunities.
