The Opportunity:
Our client a highly respected Engineering Consulting Firm located across Canada is currently seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join their team. Someone who can successfully manage and engineer unique and challenging projects while supporting core business activities. As our ideal candidate you will have a minimum of 45 years experience practicing engineering design and consultation within life safety systems including fire protection fire safety plans and code compliance analysis. Additionally experience in the Industrial sector is a must.

Key Functions:
Assess life safety systems for performance utilizing applicable
codes and standards for code conformance;
Review and prepare professional fire alarm contract documents including the creation of permit drawings and detailed schematics (e.g. supervisory points zoning
etc.) hydraulic calculations shop drawings fire safety plans technical reports etc.
Requirements
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Experience in life safety systems design engineering including a working knowledge of
all Canadian provincial (i.e. OBC Section 3) and national building and fire codes ESA
standards and best practice guidelines related to installation testing storage and use
related to suppression systems in buildings and rail systems.
Understanding of life safety systems installation verification reports and site acceptance
tests with Authorities Having Jurisdiction as required by CAN/ULC S537 and CAN/ULC
S524 as they apply to building systems is not a requirement but is an asset.
Full working knowledge of governing Codes Standards and Regulations is necessary.
An indepth knowledge and understanding of NFPA 1 through 25.
Understanding and proficiency in fire sprinkler software such as Hydratec Elite and/or SprinkCAD
Must be eligible to work in Canada;
A P.Eng. in Ontario is considered an asset;
An accredited Bachelor s degree in the field of Engineering or similar; an advanced diploma in Fire Protection Engineering will be considered
