Responsibilities:
Scientist invitro disease modeling
Clients Sciences department in MRL is looking for a motivated scientist to lead the identification and validation of new genetic targets for various cardiometabolic diseases including Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) Obesity Atherosclerosis Retinal diseases and vascular diseases. This individual will play a pivotal role as a member of the discovery team contributing to the development of innovative models for screening drug targets.
Job responsibilities:
- Establish stem cellbased invitro disease platforms.
- Design assays using high content imaging techniques to facilitate screening of small molecules and genetic modifications using CRISPR.
- Perform lab experiments interpret data and effectively communicate findings.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams in therapeutic and functional areas.
- Maintain electronic lab notebook and sample inventories.
Education requirements:
- BS with 5 years of experience/Masters with 3 years of experience/PHD with 1 year of experience in a wet lab setting.
- Candidates with a background in muscle biology will be given preference.
Required experience and skills:
- Skilled in cell culturing and differentiation of stem cells into specific lineages.
- Experience with gene manipulation technologies such as CRISPR siRNA ASOs lentivirus and AAVs.
- Expertise in molecular biology techniques including RNA extraction qPCR ELISA/MSD and ICC.
- Critical thinking with an ability to formulate experimental strategies.
- Effective in working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
