Title: Senior Chemical Process Engineer

Location: Baytown TX (OnSite)

Rate: $45 on W2

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Senior Chemical Process Engineers play a pivotal role in the successful operation of our plants and are responsible for initiating and leading improvements to unit performance in safety production and reliability in a dynamic team environment.
  • He/She will think strategically execute thoughtfully and collaborate across many teams levels and situations.
  • In this role he/she will serve as a senior process technical resource providing technical and operational expertise to address complex processes across business teams.
  • Mentoring less experienced engineers on design practices unit health monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Provide offhours support of abnormal and nonroutine operations including unit Turnarounds
  • Aiding in the development of long term vision and strategy for product line improvements
  • Organizing and designing plant testing and product trials
  • Serve as a senior resource either serving as or working with supervisors on the team to set clear objectives and ensure priorities are aligned for the technical team
  • Influence others and drive toward solutions without direct authority
  • Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines operations and mechanical personnel and interface with corporate technology support
  • Ability to interface with 3rd party vendors (cost optimizations as well as developing/driving solutions)
  • Serve as process safety resource on business team leading Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOPs) and Risk Assessments by developing closure plans and strategies for identified risks
  • Lead/support incident investigations as technical lead
  • Provide support for developing and implementing various capital projects to drive margin or mitigate SHE risk
  • Provide assistance in the field during plant startups shutdowns or upsets
  • Demonstrating courage of conviction to drive healthy tension for both business team and corporate technology support to promote fit for purpose outcome

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

  • B.S. Chemical Engineering
  • 10 years of experience in Chemical Engineering plant with technical fuels/ chemicals manufacturing roles.
  • Process design experience
  • Working knowledge of RBI practices (corrosion damage mechanisms/mitigations saltation etc)
  • Risk assessment and HAZOP experience
  • Understanding of safety relief limits (modelling and evaluations)

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with advanced control strategies/optimization software
  • Demonstrated understanding of modelling software (PROII ASPEN etc)
  • Kinetic Modelling (SOL KBC Profimatics etc)
