Title: Senior Chemical Process Engineer
Location: Baytown TX (OnSite)
Rate: $45 on W2
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Senior Chemical Process Engineers play a pivotal role in the successful operation of our plants and are responsible for initiating and leading improvements to unit performance in safety production and reliability in a dynamic team environment.
- He/She will think strategically execute thoughtfully and collaborate across many teams levels and situations.
- In this role he/she will serve as a senior process technical resource providing technical and operational expertise to address complex processes across business teams.
- Mentoring less experienced engineers on design practices unit health monitoring and troubleshooting
- Provide offhours support of abnormal and nonroutine operations including unit Turnarounds
- Aiding in the development of long term vision and strategy for product line improvements
- Organizing and designing plant testing and product trials
- Serve as a senior resource either serving as or working with supervisors on the team to set clear objectives and ensure priorities are aligned for the technical team
- Influence others and drive toward solutions without direct authority
- Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines operations and mechanical personnel and interface with corporate technology support
- Ability to interface with 3rd party vendors (cost optimizations as well as developing/driving solutions)
- Serve as process safety resource on business team leading Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOPs) and Risk Assessments by developing closure plans and strategies for identified risks
- Lead/support incident investigations as technical lead
- Provide support for developing and implementing various capital projects to drive margin or mitigate SHE risk
- Provide assistance in the field during plant startups shutdowns or upsets
- Demonstrating courage of conviction to drive healthy tension for both business team and corporate technology support to promote fit for purpose outcome
Required Skills (Technical Competency):
- B.S. Chemical Engineering
- 10 years of experience in Chemical Engineering plant with technical fuels/ chemicals manufacturing roles.
- Process design experience
- Working knowledge of RBI practices (corrosion damage mechanisms/mitigations saltation etc)
- Risk assessment and HAZOP experience
- Understanding of safety relief limits (modelling and evaluations)
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with advanced control strategies/optimization software
- Demonstrated understanding of modelling software (PROII ASPEN etc)
- Kinetic Modelling (SOL KBC Profimatics etc)
