Working Pattern: Part time 21 hours

Contract:Fixed Term Contract (36 Months)

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust

With community work spanning three decades Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has established itself as a pioneering organisation for the local community. It uses the power of sport to educate motivate and inspire people from all walks of life.

Working in partnership with Brentford FC the Trust offers a portfolio of programmes in education health sports participation and community engagement. The Trust has won the Football League Community Club of the Year award four times and now employs more than 100 members of staff. The Trust is forecasting further significant expansion over the next two years following its appointment as a key partner in the redevelopment of Gunnersbury Park as a sports hub and its move to new larger purposebuilt premises directly adjacent to the new Brentford FC 17500 capacity stadium near Kew Bridge in 2021.

  • To build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally maintaining a professional image at all times when representing Brentford FC Community Sports Trust
  • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Trust and its personnel
  • To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times

Main Purpose of Job

The Young Carers Project Worker will be responsible for planning orgnaising and delivering sessions for young carers in the Northolt and Greenford areas of Ealing. They will provide individual and group support in a variety of settings in the local community as well as working closely with schools to identify new young carers and drive referrals to the project.


Responsibilities

  • To work alongside the project manager to offer practical and emotional support to young carers.
  • To set up a new youth club in the Northolt area.
  • To plan organise and deliver school holiday trips for young carers in Northolt and Greenford.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with young carers through onetoone support.
  • Plan organise and deliver sessions in schools to support and engage new young carers.
  • To build knowledge on young carers and their needs and an understanding of the local services available to them.
  • Create awareness of young carers and their needs and support the manager in increasing the number of young carers accessing support from the project.
  • Keep up to date registers risk assessments and regularly upload to monitoring systems.
  • To understand and comply with all policies and procedures in line with Trust and contractual responsibilities including the safeguarding of the young people GDPR health and safety and EDI.
  • Work flexible hours including evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Stay informed about safeguarding policies procedures and best practices
  • Report any safeguarding concerns promptly to the appropriate authorities or designated personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents concerns and actions taken.

      The Selection Criteria Essential

      • Experience of working and setting up youth clubs
      • Good understanding of working on projects and meeting deadlines.
      • Experience of working with young people (paid or voluntary)
      • Experience of planning and delivering on sessions
      • Ability to lead and work as part of a team
      • Experience of building positive relationships with young people
      • Excellent communication and organisation skills
      • Ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a team.
      • Availability to work evenings school holidays and occasional weekends
      • To be able work across Borough of Ealing
      • Safeguarding and First Aid qualification or willingness to complete

        Desirable:

        • Previous experience of working with young carers and an understanding of their needs.
        • Professional qualification related to working with young people

          • An ability to deal calmly and effectively with emotional or challenging situations with participants
          • Behaviour consistent with creating a child focused open environment in which young people feel valued and empowered.
