Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) has been known as one of the most effective and robust ways to remove suspended solids biochemical oxygen demand fats oils and grease phosphorus or nutrients from industrial wastewaters. Nijhuis has provided more than 4000 Dissolved Air Flotation systems around the world in a variety of industries including; food and beverage production dairy processing meat processing agricultural oil and gas and municipal markets to just name a few. DAF units are often preceded by a flocculator or mixing tank with a chemical dosing unit. These systems add coagulant and flocculant to the water to increase the removal rates in the DAF. While many traditional coagulants and flocculants are applied a transition is on its way towards more green chemicals. Nijhuis is active in this development as it fits with our aim to protect resources and to minimize the impact that our business activities have on the water and soil.
