Peak Design has traditionally made both hard goods and soft goods (think tripods and backpacks). In 2021 we made our first foray into the mobile accessory world when we released a revolutionary line of mobile phone cases and mounting solutions that we call simply Mobile.
This is an engineering and design support role for our team of mobile engineers based in San Francisco . Day to day you will support the development of new products by serving as an outsourced CAD and design resource for our team. Some tasks that will likely be part of your day to day:
Taking rough prototype CAD or concept sketches and creating robust parametric CAD that can be 3D printed or released for prototype testing.
Cleaning up CAD models for existing designs to make them more organized and parametric prior to NPI
Drawing creation and management for assemblies and parts prior to NPI
Maintaining our Onshape CAD library

40 hours/week
The following list represents a range of traits and experience that would help make you highly effective and impactful in this role:
Strong technical aptitude. You lean into technical challenges and are able and excited to go deep on a technical topic to build your knowledge.
Experience owning mechanical parts and assemblies from prototyping through mass production for high volume products that have successfully shipped to customers.
Highly effective at creating and maintaining complex 3D models and assemblies in any major 3D CAD system. Ability to create CAD models as parametric concise and organized as possible for team collaboration using best CAD practices.
Strong mechanical aptitude both handson and theoretical. You ve worked extensively with moving parts and mechanisms.
