Job description of Modern Trade Manager
Job title: Modern Trade Manager
Department: Sales and Marketing
Geography covered: Gujarat State Corporate office.
Reports to: Sales and Marketing Director
Matrix: Management Consultant HR.
Job Summary:
The FMCG Modern Trade Manager is responsible for driving sales growth profitability and brand presence within the modern trade channel for our FMCG products. This role requires a strategic and resultsoriented individual with a deep understanding of the modern trade landscape and the ability to build strong relationships with key account managers.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategies to achieve sales targets and market share objectives within the modern trade channel.
Manage and develop relationships with key account managers at major modern trade retailers.
Oversee category management initiatives to optimize product placement pricing and promotions.
Develop and execute trade marketing and promotional campaigns to drive sales and brand awareness.
Monitor and analyse sales data and market trends to identify growth opportunities.
Manage a team of sales representatives (if applicable) and ensure they achieve their targets.
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate performance and insights to senior management.

Key Results Areas (KRAs):
1.
Sales Growth: Achieve assigned sales targets for the modern trade channel.
2.
Profitability: Maintain or improve profitability margins within the modern trade channel.
3.
Market Share: Grow market share within the assigned product categories in the modern trade channel.
4.
Account Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key account managers.
5.
Category Management: Optimize product assortment pricing and promotions to maximize category sales.
6.
Trade Marketing: Develop and execute effective trade marketing campaigns that drive sales and brand awareness.
7.
Sales Team Performance: (if applicable) Motivate and develop the sales team to achieve their individual and team targets.
8.
Data Analysis: Regularly analyse sales data and market trends to identify areas for improvement.
9.
Reporting and Communication: Prepare clear and concise reports to communicate performance and insights to senior management.
10.
New Product Launches: Successfully launch new products within the modern trade channel.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
1.
Sales growth percentage vs. target.
2.
Profit margin within the modern trade channel.
3.
Market share percentage in assigned product categories.
4.
Number of key account meetings conducted.
5.
Category sales growth percentage.
6.
Return on investment (ROI) for trade marketing campaigns.
7.
Sales team achievement rate vs. target.
8.
Number of sales reports generated.
9.
Timeliness and accuracy of reports.
10.
Success rate of new product launches within the modern trade channel.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor s degree in business administration Marketing or a related field (MBA preferred).
Experience: 7 years of experience in FMCG sales and/or marketing with a focus on the modern trade channel.
Skills: Strong communication negotiation analytical and relationshipbuilding skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and CRM software is a plus.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of the FMCG industry and the modern trade landscape. Knowledge of category management principles and trade marketing practices.
Additional Desirable Skills:
Experience in managing a sales team.
Experience with trade promotion planning and execution.
Proven ability to develop and manage budgets.
Desired Certifications:
Professional certifications in sales or marketing (e.g. Certified Professional Salesperson (CPS) Professional Marketing Certification (PMC))
