Overview:

The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in assisting with cardiac catheterization procedures supporting the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart conditions. They work alongside a multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe and effective operation of specialized medical equipment within the catheterization lab.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain catheterization lab equipment.
  • Assist with cardiac catheterization procedures under the supervision of physicians.
  • Monitor patients vital signs and assist with patient positioning during procedures.
  • Operate imaging equipment to visualize the heart and blood vessels.
  • Assist in the documentation of procedure details and patient medical records.
  • Manage inventory and stocking of catheterization lab supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
  • Participate in emergency response and resuscitation efforts as needed.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide quality patient care.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and quality assurance checks on equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in cardiovascular technology or related field.
  • Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating catheterization lab equipment.
  • Knowledge of catheterization techniques and cardiac anatomy.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety principles and practices.
  • Capability to remain calm and focused during emergency situations.
  • Understanding of sterile technique and infection control practices.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including oncall shifts.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift/move heavy equipment.
  • Active CPR certification and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) credential.
