About the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA): We are the evolution of ambition passion and commitment. Bachelor of Science in Political Science Communications or Public Administration with 5 years of experience. Or a Master’s Degree in one of these principles Political Science Communications or Public Administration Community Relations with related experience.
Ability to Uphold the Mission and Vision Statement.
Demonstrated experience with Business Excellence Economic Development Advocacy and Workforce Development.
Drive to provide excellent customer service to coworkers staff volunteers visitors vendors and the community at large.
Maintain appropriate levels of external communication with the community and effectively communicate internally with all stakeholders.
The ability to maintain confidentiality is needed.
Role Description and Responsibilities:
Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties.
Government & Public Relations
Develop and maintain strong communications and relationships with elected officials and their staff at all levels along with regional/stateaffiliated organizations; chambers and economic development associations community leaders and other select professional and industry groups.
Facilitate the Business & Community Advocacy Council and special Policy/Issues Committees to establish annual memberdriven probusiness policy agenda and position statements.
Actively engage members throughout the year by conducting Policy/Issues discussions/forums with officials community leaders and appropriate topic experts to frame and present memberships’ viewpoints and priorities. (Business & Community Advocacy Meetings and Advocacy & Community Leadership Series Forums).
Work collaboratively with other organizations/associations to gather information identify challenges and opportunities and guide the development of bills and regulations.
Maintain and update Business Advocacy presence on the GRCA website including an interactive section to keep members informed and provide a tool to learn about their elected officials pending legislation and bill status and contacting elected/appointed officials.
Act as spokesperson and provide position letters/testimony respond to media inquiries and represent GRCA.
Prepare content for Advocate (enewsletter) articles in Commerce Quarterly social media news media special campaigns/alerts and forums and other media publications and outlets.
Support member requests for local government interaction and facilitation (i.e. LERTA).
Business & Community Development
Build effective networks and public/private partnerships with businesses communities officials and professional associations that align with GRCA's priorities and strategy.
Obtain and retain sponsors for the Business and Community Advocacy Council.
Facilitate meetings at local companies to bring together business leadership with legislative delegates and local community representatives.
Support projects undertaken by GRCA in terms of coordination with municipalities local or state officials and other entities.
