About our Client: They are a leading company in the Power sector with over 27 years of verifiable experience in generation transmission and distribution networks to the West African Power Sector.

Job Objective:
The Operations and Maintenance Head is to oversee the operations preventive predictive and corrective maintenance of electricity transmission or distribution equipment auxiliaries energy storage control systems and substations including integrating distributed generation sources and major cable diversion work. He/She actively explores new solutions technology and policies to improve operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans organizes and directs the Operations and Maintenance for all Mechanical Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance and as well as all processrelated tasks associated with Client contracts stands as an advisor to General Manager on Operation and Maintenance issues.
  • Develops plans and implements goals and objectives for the operations and maintenance department
  • Participate in the management of the main activities associated with the maintenance repair and replacement of Mechanical Electrical and Instrumentation assets to provide a costeffective efficient and fitforpurpose service to customers.
  • Manage operational & maintenance activities on a daytoday basis ensuring that business objectives of high productivity and efficient work practices through the effective management and utilization of the workforce and assets are achieved
  • Ensure that work is carried out under agreed service level agreements whilst operating within the appropriate Safety Management and Environmental Management systems. Oversees and participates in the departmental program work plan; assigns work activities operations and maintenance projects and programs; monitors work flow and project status; reviews and evaluates work products methods and procedures; implements needed work process and automation improvement
  • Coordinates preparation of the annual budget request for the Operations and Maintenance Department; reviews staffing equipment and supply needs based upon recent trends and planned activities; monitors expenditures after budget adoption; approves purchase requisitions
  • Prepares and administers internal policies and procedures relating to departmental program activities; interprets and explains applicable rules laws and regulations to supervisors and others.
  • Manage external Service Provider contracts in line with agreed principles to ensure organization is receiving value for money.
  • Ensure work areas under the responsibility of role holder comply with and achieve organization standards of service throughout all activities.
  • Carry out technical audits and reviews and keep direct reports updated with new techniques and codes of practice to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the assets.
  • Promote and implement best practices and introduce business improvements to support the achievement of contract targets and to support the organization s objectives.
  • Visits job sites to oversee work in progress and provide needed direction; responds to major emergencies during and after hours as needed; directs the investigation and correction of operational complaints within areas of jurisdiction.
  • Work within and promote the philosophy of working safely and development across all Organization activities to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance.

PLANNING ORGANISING & CONTROLLING:
Will be entirely responsible for all aspects of planning and execution of maintenance activities to agreed deadlines. This will include but not be limited to;
  • Resource forecasting to support planned and reactive maintenance
  • Workforce organization and liaison with contracted maintenance providers
  • Management and control of maintenance workforce and contractors
  • Cost control on running jobs and activities
  • Budgetary planning and forecasts
  • Tender document preparation



Requirements

Education & Experiences:
  • Bachelors degree level in an engineering discipline (preferably to chartered status) with 15years experience of;
  • Industry experience (DISCO) is essential.
  • Operational Experience in the Utility industry
  • Mechanical/Electrical &Instrumentation planned and reactive maintenance of utility assets
  • Development of optimised work management systems
  • Route cause and failure mode analysis
  • Experience of managing operational and maintenance team
  • Will have a high degree of competency in team management team motivation and the development of subordinates
