Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquires Fingerprints and

Drug Screen.

Type of Employment: FullTime 40 hours per week.

Estimate Pay: $23.65/hour.

Paid Time Off per Year: 80hours per year occurring on day one. Sick Leave per Year: 56hours per year occurring on day one. Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays

Working Hours

The Pharmacy Technician will normally work from Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:00pm with a 30minute unpaid lunch break.

Summary of Duties

The Pharmacy Technician will provide inmates at the prison normal Pharmacy Services in accordance with the Health Services Departments and medical providers directions. All services shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Pharmacy Technician services and compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed a Pharmacy Training Program and have a Pharmacy Technician Certification board certificate.
  • Must have at least 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Proof of experience of working in a correctional setting is preferred.
  • Must be CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Three (3) Letter of Reference is required.

Attire

The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the staff pharmacist in ordering stocking storing and dispensing of prescription and nonprescription medications while demonstrating knowledge of the budgetary guidelines and BOP Formulary constraints.
  • Maintain pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Assist the pharmacist in maintaining stock of uptodate medications (checking for outdates per policy) in the main pharmacy satellite camp crash carts emergency bags and Automated Dispensing Systems.
  • Assist the Pharmacist with maintaining stock of forms as needed and updating Pill Line/ Restricted Medication cards for inmates as well as filing Medication Administration Records into the Medical Record.
  • Assist the Pharmacist in preparing unit dose or prepackaged medications.
  • Complete and maintain competency as indicated by the ability to complete the Pharmacy.
  • Competency Module while maintaining knowledge of BOP Formulary and any changes to this document.
  • Maintain the narcotics count and the needle and syringe inventories.
  • Maintain and restock adequate supplies for the Night Stock cabinet and perform audits of the Night Stock or Automated Dispensing System.
  • Possess a working knowledge and maintain technical computer skills pertaining to pharmacy issues.
  • Must participate in Improving Organizational Performance Data and Quality Assurance Activities as directed by the Pharmacist or HSA.
  • Perform minor clerical duties such as use of BOP electronic medical record computer documentation and scheduling scanning documents filing typing callouts institutional memorandums answering phones scheduling patients and maintaining stock records.
