Job Description

Position: VDC Designer

Location: Los Alamos NM (Onsite presence required 23 days a week)

Job Description:

The VDC Designer plays a crucial role in producing highquality products as outlined by project scoping and management. This position operates in a support capacity defined by project requirements ensuring successful project execution meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensuring client satisfaction. Acting as an extension of Construction Managers and VDC Leads the VDC Designer collaborates interdepartmentally with multiple Construction Managers based on project needs. Key responsibilities include producing quality deliverables maintaining disciplinespecific competency and fostering strong client relationships.

Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Develop disciplinespecific competency and expertise (e.g. mechanical electrical plumbing structural or architectural).
  • Collaborate with internal project teams to support project creation maintenance and health.
  • Engage with external stakeholders including Architects Engineers General Contractors and trade Contractors.
  • Work alongside Construction Managers and VDC Leads on projectspecific tasks.
  • Provide technical support using various software tools.
  • Interpret and analyze construction documentation for multiple disciplines.
  • Assist in model coordination both internally and externally.
  • Ensure products are produced with minimal rework and within allotted parameters.

Customer Relations:

  • Ensure client satisfaction on assigned projects and interactions.
  • Support business development initiatives.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with assigned clients.

Travel Expectations:

  • Travel as required per client expectations.

Preferred Experience:

  • Vocational/technical background in Architectural Structural Mechanical HVAC Mechanical Piping Process Piping Electrical Plumbing or Fire Protection.
  • Minimum 13 years of industry experience.
  • Proficiency in Revit Navisworks and BIM360 required.
  • Experience with software such as Bluebeam AutoCAD Dynamo ProCore eVolve Project Wise and BIMTrack preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic clash detection functions.
  • Strong teamwork and independent work capabilities.

Preferred Education/Credentials:

  • Related technical certifications and degrees.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily remote work with occasional travel to office locations or project sites.
  • Utilization of standard office equipment such as computers video conferencing tools phones etc.

Physical Demands:

  • Work performed in an office environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules and extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to read documents use a computer and communicate effectively.
  • Mobility required within office and construction site environments.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required.
