Estimated Pay: $65000 $70000 year.
Summary of Services
The Biomechanics Research Associate will support the Biomedical Impact of Flight Branch Human Effectiveness Directorate 711th Human Performance Wing (711th HPW) by providing direct support to the project titled InField Ground Reaction Force Estimation Using Wearable Sensors for HighImpact Landings. This support will include assisting in the development of custom software applications for livestreaming data biomedical data processing data visualization and other custom software applications for both new capabilities and enhancement of existing capabilities along with performing indepth system analysis of research project objectives and processes in order to accurately translate them into the best software solution.
Working Hours
Work schedule is normally fromMonday through Friday except federal holidays; however there may be times when it is necessary for the contractor to work before or after duty hours in support of specific tasks. Although schedule may have to be flexible it will not exceed 40 hours per week.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Possess the minimum of a bachelors degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. biomedical engineering mechanical engineering kinesiology physiology exercise science movement sciences biomechanics human factors psychology ergonomics etc.).
- Shall have the ability to be sociable and comfortable interacting with human subjects during data collection while also paying high attention to detail.
- Shall have demonstrated experience with motion capture systems EMG and MATLAB/Python.
- Shall have a minimum of one (1) year of demonstrated experience in a research setting.
Highly Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with force plates.
- Current Secret Clearance.
- Masters Degree (awarded or underway).
- Experience in a human biomechanics laboratory research setting.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Shall assist in the development of custom software applications for livestreaming data biomedical data processing data visualization and other custom software applications for both new capabilities and enhancement of existing capabilities.
- Be responsible for managing/maintaining software licenses within the research laboratory (e.g. MATLAB Python LabVIEW JMP TEMA etc.)
- Exhibit competence in performing indepth system analysis of research project objectives and processes in order to accurately translate them into the best software solution.
- Shall ensure discovered problems are clearly defined and communicated; and the necessary corrective actions are employed and/or risk is mitigated to support research project(s) execution.
- Shall be able to work independently have strong attention to detail have strong English skills good organizational skills initiative in performing assigned tasks and the ability to followup complex projects.
- Shall participate in statistical analysis and development of mathematical algorithms to solve problems in: behavioral sciences human physiology engineering and physics; this includes development of algorithms for multibody kinematics engineering and physics; this includes development of algorithms for multibody kinematics nonlinear analyses etc.
- Shall assist with scheduling subject screening data collection data management and data analysis.
- Shall conduct and complete research experiments procedures tests or survey instruments.
- Shall perform data entry verification and analysis procedures.
- Shall coordinate and assist with the design and implementation of sponsored and PI initiated research studies including regulatory requirements maintenance of files/study records and all activities associated with internal and external audits.
- Shall assist in creating and maintaining internal standard operating procedure (SOP) documents for laboratory equipment and processes.
- Shall clean and maintain instrumentation equipment and laboratory spaces.
- Shall assist with the monitoring of supply inventory and replenishment of stocks through established Command supply procedures.
- The contractor employee shall conduct literature searches and prepare summaries.
- Shall assist in generation of technical reports presentations and manuscripts for publication.
- Shall be able to work for long periods of time in a laboratory setting and/or at a computer; and shall be physically able to lift materials weighing no more than 30 lbs.
- Shall conduct any other functions and duties recognized as being necessary to conduct their primary role within the scope of the effort.
