Powertrain Performance CAE
Job description:
The powertrain performance simulation Engineer is responsible for providing guidance to ICE design teams for the purpose of improving engine performance.
He/ She will be an integral part of the development team.
He / She is responsible for utilizing commercial and /or internal tools to analyze engine design and characteristics to ensure functional objectives are met.
He/ She should be able to refine and analyze modeling results to be able to improve ICE inlet outlet and combustion properties in order to exceed engine performance targets/limits.
He/ She will create 0D/1D models starting from CAD model and functional characteristics relative to requirements.
In particular he/she will handle:
ICE input and output characteristic models
Combustion property characteristic models
Modeling of Thermal and Lubrication characteristics of the Internal Combustion Engine
Conversion of detailed models to FRM/RT ones
Models connection method development for Integrated System simulation
Modeling to be done using GT Suite and Amesim
Develop innovative solution for improving engine performance/efficiency
By using these models he/she must analyze the simulations results and providing related conclusions in oral presentations and written reports to Chief Engineers COEs Component Engineers and others including Powertrain management if it is required.
He should have enough experience and attitude also to train team members in this electrical component thermal modelling
He will be the responsibility to write and publish Standard Operating Procedure documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on computational fluid dynamics combustion or heat transfer
Knowledgeable about automotive engine transmission or drivetrain requirements and function
Experience in powertrain virtual analysis using commercial codes such as AVL Excite or / and Gamma Technology GTSuite
