Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure ultimate product quality and delivering on our brand promise by means of implementing best operating practices for quality management at the packhouse thereby ensuring good quality blueberries are packed and delivered to customers.


Key Performance Outputs

Quality

Conduct and oversee Intake QC on raw material and ensure information is captured accurately and reports are sent out timeously.

Communicate any deviations from the quality standards with growers to ensure they understand the noncompliance in order to make corrective actions.

Communicate timeously any quality issues that may have an impact on production and commercial planning.

Ensure stock is allocated correctly according to Due Dilligence tracker MRL tracker and quality standards.

Support and liase with the Product Manager and Product Allocator in decision making with regards to stock allocations.

Check stock rotation (FIFO) and perform daily monitoring of the stock in storage.

Oversee Online QC procedures to ensure product is packed in accordance with customer specifications this includes product quality correct labelling and correct packaging material.

Oversee Shelflife & Rotbox inspection procedure and inform the Product Manager immediately of any issues.

Oversee Dispatch QC procedure to ensure that the final product is packed and palletized according to specification.

Ensure the coldchain of the product is maintained at all times throughout the packhouse ensure effective monitoring en ensure product is at the correct temperature before it being dispatched.


Food Safety and Hygiene

Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of QMS system at the packhouse.

Ensure that external audits are scheduled within the due date.

Coordinate audit preprations meetngs feedback and action lists.

Maintain and compile the internal audit plan; Esure internal audits are carried out.

Responsible for Ethical and Environmental matters on site.

Host and lead on site audits.

Ensure that United Exports is up to date with the most recent Food Safety Standards required by the various customers. This is to include an uptodate Policy Statement Organogram Job descriptions HACCP Calibration records and Complaints system.

Maintain highest hygiene and food safety standards in the packhouse.

Ensure the packhouse personnel follow good hygiene practices and comply to hygiene rules at all times.

Monitor the maintenance needs of the pack house and ensure foreign body control is in place.

Manage food defence allergen management and nonconforming product disposal.

Manage and monitor pest control and foreign body contamination risk.

Fully understand an doperate the HACCP system ; HACCP team leader

Ordering and maintenance of cleaning chemicals and equipment


General Technical

Manage all quality controllers and cleaners; assign them duties accordingly.

Ensure compliance to all packhouse procedures relating to Quality Control and Quality Assurance.

Ensure all traceability procedures are strictly adhered to.

Perform other duties (if and when necessary) as requested by Management.

Responsible for departmental budget and financial processes.

Handling and investigation of customer complaints and any nonconformances root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Host clients and visitors when necessary including factory tours.

Take part in management meetings and give feedback on quality issues and nonconformances.


































































































































































Requirements

Education/Experience

Senior certificate / grade 12 / matric.

Suitable tertiary qualification.

Minimum 2 years experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance


Functional/Technical

Computer literacy: MS Office (Excel Word PowerPoint)

Technical knowledge of the fruit industry

Product knowledge soft fruit category

Basic Food Safety Awareness HACCP IFS 22000 BRC
