Diesel Mechanic

The main responsibility of this role is to ensure that the company vehicles trucks and trailers are maintained in good working order and to repair the vehicles in the efficient way in case of breakages.

Skills :

• Maintain all trucks trailers vehicles forklifts and other mobile equipment used for logistical or transportation of goods
• Do weekly inspections and tests on all vehicles
• Prepare all vehicles and equipment including trucks and trailers for annual roadworthy tests
• Do scheduled major maintenance on trucks and trailers
• Perform service and maintenance on all company forklifts crane bobcat and telehandler
• Tend to call outs at sister sites and all areas reachable to service trucks and vehicles with p breakdowns
• Obtain and request quotes from suppliers
• Manage the tyre rotation programme on all trucks and trailers performed by outside supplier
• Create complete and manage all DMS job cards generated within your division
• Maintain a neat and tidy working environment and comply with hygiene standards for a FSSC accredited site
• Plan and execute planned work to be done over weekends
• Liaise with engineering workshop and plan all related engineering work on trucks and vehicles

• Participate in safety forums and attend relevant training/programmes
• Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
• Comply with safety policies and procedures
• Wear protective clothing (where applicable) at all times
• Maintain a neat tidy and safe work space at all times
• Comply to environmental rules and policies with regards to waste materials

Employee management and development

• Ensure overall compliance to relevant procedures and policies
• Ensure that all team members have clearly defined job profiles
• Regular goal reviews are completed to assess achievement of results
• Support coaching and mentoring is continuously provided to ensure that objectives are met
• Appropriate allocation of resources to meet operational demands
• Ensure adequate succession planning in order to meet ongoing and anticipated business requirements
