This role can be based in Ireland the UK or Portugal. The role can be fully remote within Ireland UK or Portugal if necessary however we have shared office space in Dublin London and Porto for those who prefer a hybrid model where you can spend time with colleagues inperson.
WHO YOULL WORK WITH
The Software Engineering Team Lead is an integral part of a dedicated squad consisting of software engineers QA (Quality Assurance) engineers and UI/UX designers. This particular squads mission is to empower hostels to craft compelling offers enhancing their competitiveness and appeal to travellers.
Within this team your primary role will be to offer technical leadership and to provide line management to facilitate the learning and productivity of the 36 engineers within the squad.
WHAT YOULL DO
- The role requires both killer tech and people management skills leading a small team of engineers.
- Set the technical direction for the team and ensure engineering best practices. Drive improvement as needed
- Mentor team members. Ensure they receive frequent performance feedback and are continuously learning.
- Represent and advocate for the team at company and department level. Manage stakeholders expectations.
- Work alongside your Engineering Manager and Business Unit Manager to create and support a rewarding working environment that aligns with the company culture
- Help establish a culture of continuous learning in the team and effective agile team and technical practices
- Ensure the team develops robust and scalable solutions to support high traffic applications.
- Contribute to the evolution of the overall product/system architecture
- Work with product owners/managers to plan and scope projects and features
- Provide clarity to your team and others by setting expectations on deliverables.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in line management of 3 or more software engineers helping them grow and learn
- 4 years full stack development experience (including exposure to both PHP and Node.js) in a consumer facing environment
- Worked with and contributed to the advancement of Agile development processes
- Strong CI/CD experience
- Experience of cloud native applications on Google Cloud (GCP) or similar
Skills:
- Ability to showcase resilience in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment

- Excellent analytical / problem solving ability
- Understanding of software development in terms of business value
