Telco Cloud Engineer

Job Description:

Join the 5G advanced operations team at Client where you will play a crucial role in maintaining troubleshooting and optimizing the Cloud infrastructure and IP transport network for our cuttingedge 5G network. We are seeking a Telco Cloud Reliability Engineer with a proven track record in deploying and operating private hybrid and AWS cloud environments specifically designed for 5G Core NFs. In this role you will lead outage restoration efforts provide training and mentorship and collaborate with internal teams to support the endtoend 5G SA core network.

Responsibilities:

• Thrive in a highstress environment collaborating with internal and external partners.
• Provide secondlevel operational support for troubleshooting and implementing resolutions in cloud environments supporting 5G Core NFs RAN OSS and virtualized applications/systems.
• Design implement improve and maintain Kubernetes (EKS) infrastructure solutions on AWS in collaboration with the operations team.
• Create and manage Prometheus/Grafana metrics and dashboards including alerting for production clusters.
• Assist 5G NF Engineers in creating and implementing Helm charts for application deployments.
• Develop troubleshooting playbooks based on existing standards to enhance fault restoration times for cloud environments.
• Analyze 5G cloud technologies to improve network virtualization infrastructure.
• Lead the development of operational support processes for cloud environments supporting Clients 5G SA network.
• Automate daily health checks for all 5G cloud environments and integrate them into Client standardization.
• Perform maintenance activities across multicloud environments Private or Public.
• Collaborate with Architecture Design and Deployment teams to understand HLDs and LLDs for 5G SA network cloud environments.
• Assist with integration of authentication and authorization protocols for IAM and Client Corporate Security (CCS) compliance.
• Engage and escalate issues with vendor Care support teams when critical support and resolution are needed.
• Document incidents in the Client ticketing systems and manage escalation processes as needed.
• Collect traces for network faults using vendorspecific tools and network probes.
• Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
• Support solution processes for future CI/CD system orchestration and automation.
• Verify and Correct Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation for activities in a production environment.
• Perform proactive troubleshooting & performance analysis of applications services and cloud environments.
• Ensure services meet security stability performance and availability requirements.
• Build robust selfhealing features and automation to reduce operational effort and improve service uptime.
• Optimize AWS infrastructure for scalability and efficiency.

Qualifications:

• 5 years experience in cloud operations preferably in an AWS environment.
• Previous experience in DevOps Systems engineering and Site Reliability Engineering.
• Technical understanding of key telco technologies such as CPU Pinning NUMA SRIOV DPDK etc.
• Proven track record of handling & troubleshooting various critical Production and Nonproduction endtoend applications.
• Demonstrated competency with AWS services: ECS EC2 S3 RDS VPC Route53 ELB IAM CloudFront CloudFormation CloudWatch SES.
• Experience upgrading and securing scalable infrastructure with Kubernetes clusters hosted in EKS.
• Handson experience resolving issues on Linux Openstack and Kubernetes platforms.
• Expertise in leveraging Automation/DevOps principles and operational tools.
• Familiarity with Helm Gitlab CI/CD Prometheus Grafana Nginx.
• Knowledgeable using trace/tcpdump in troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of Linux Openstack and Kubernetes networking supporting large wireless networks.
• Experience modeling network configuration in JSON YAML or YANG.
• Proficiency in implementing and managing service mesh architectures using Envoy and Istio.
• Knowledge of IP and Ethernet performance optimization techniques and methods.
• Knowledge of Internet protocols and services including DNS DHCP LDAP SMTP and HTTPS.
• Experience with programming/scripting languages (Shell Python Perl Bash or other automation programming languages).
• Ability to thrive in a highstress environment demonstrating urgency responsiveness followthrough and successful outcome management.
• Ability to span departments to assist in resolving network event outages demonstrating command and control until fault resolution.
• Ability to multitask meet objectives and solve issues in stressful situations with a high speed of completion and a high degree of accuracy.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time for events project delivery QBRs training and market visits.
• Cloud DevOps Engineer certifications Highly preferred.
• Knowledge of security standards related to PKI SAML OAuth OpenID Connect SCIM 2FA/MFA and Federated Identity a plus.

Must have:

• Kubernetes/EKSAWS/Openstack skillsets admin and operations
• Deploying 5G apps on AWS infra
• outlining playbooks and maintaining infra on KubernetesOpenstack
• Stabilizing clusters
• Automating and operating health checks scripting knowledge is good

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Electronics Computer Engineering Computer Science Vocational/Technical Training with 5 years of relevant work experience; or
• Twoyear vocational degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of equivalent work experience working in a Cloud/network operations environment; or
• Technical military IT or communications training with at least 8 years of equivalent work experience working in a Cloud/network operations environment.
