- ManpowerGroup Public Sector, a ManpowerGroup Company (NASDAQ: MAN), provides services to Commercial and U.S. Government Clients.
- MGPS is seeking native speakers of Karen (/k r n/) Language to work from home as full-time Phone/Video Interpreters. This is a direct hire opportunity to work for one of our commercial Contracts. No previous experience as an interpreter is required although it will be helpful to have a good command of vocabulary in one or more of the following areas: Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, 911 and other industries. However, it is not a requirement to have a background in these areas. Interpreters are responsible for handling calls on demand and accurately interpreting the meaning of conversations between Karen (/k r n/) and English speakers. Entry-level candidates willing to learn are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Fluency in Karen (/k r n/) and English.
- Familiarity with Karen (/k r n/) culture.
- Ability to find the best way of communicating with someone who has limited English proficiency.
- Good listening, recall and note-taking skills to keep a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
- Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred, but not required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legally authorized to work in the US (green card or U.S. citizenship).
- Applicants for employment in the US must have work authorization which does not now or in the future require sponsorship for an employment visa in the United States.
- Applicants must physically reside anywhere in the Continental US.
- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Full-time status for any interpreter who works 40 hours per week.

- Up to five (5) weeks of PAID professional training provided by the company before conducting any live phone/video interpretation.
- Provision of a laptop and headset by the company at no cost to the interpreter. After successfully completing the interpreter training, the company sends all full-time interpreters the laptop and necessary hardware, so there are no out-of-pocket expenses to the interpreters.
- The convenience to work a weekly set schedule with consistent hours (Interpreters can select the work schedule which works best for them (i.e., Mon Fri, Tue Sat, etc.)
- Karen (/k r n/) interpreters are paid $20.00 per hour (Full Time) and $17.00 per hour (Part Time) regardless of how many calls they receive within their shift, compared with other companies that pay only for the minutes interpreters are engaged on a phone call.
- Helping Karen (/k r n/) speakers with Limited English Proficiency communicate with first responders (firefighters, police, EMTs, etc.), medical professionals (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, etc.), financial specialists (bankers, etc.), insurance specialists, and others.
