What does a Data Protection Managerat Collinson do

We have an exciting opportunity for a regional Data Protection and Compliance Manager to join our team in UK and our wider Global Data Protection Team.

You will support and report into the Global Head of Data Protection in the UK and work in close alignment with various Regional Managers and local operation teams product owners and commercial leads.

Data Protection laws and regulations are evolving at an increasing rate in the region and Collinson wants to stay ahead of the game. This role ensures that Collinson operates in a legal and ethical manner complying with applicable laws and regulations pertaining to our industries as well as professional standards accepted business practices and internal Policies while meeting business goals.

The role will be embedded into the team responsible for developing and overseeing compliance programs applying company Policies and supporting the development of our products and propositions. We expect this role to provide practical and pragmatic support and advice whilst protecting the interests of the customer and adhering to Collinson values.

Your duties will include and are not limited to the following activities and tasks:

Data Protection

  • Work with the business units to ensure Collinson is compliant with the local laws and regulations relevant to Data Protection.
  • Provide support and advice to product commercial and support functions to ensure data privacy is supported through design delivery and execution of products and propositions systems and operational processes.
  • Maintain the data protection records including processing activities and conducting coordinating or reviewing privacy and data protection impact assessments.
  • Manage data protection related queries and complaints.
  • Inform and advise Collinson employees and business units operating within the Region of their obligations under relevant local and group policies and procedures and processes.
  • Monitor adherence to Collinson data protection policies and procedures including awareness raising and training.
  • Review contracts to ensure appropriate data protection clauses are used.
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Where required provide advice on the management and resolution of incidents involving personal data including notification to relevant regulatory authorities in the region where appropriate.

Compliance

  • Identify and maintain a framework for Compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Develop establish and work with the business units to set operational policies for compliance with Collinson Policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Review procedures practices and documents to identify possible gaps of noncompliance
  • Proactively and regularly engage stakeholders to identity and close gaps in internal Policies and guidelines for compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Oversee and guide the business units in the development and management of action plans in response to audit findings and compliance violations.
  • Provide regular training to staff on relevant regulations and processes pertaining to Collinsons operations.
  • Provide regular advice and reporting to Management on the regions compliance with laws and regulations.

Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the FCAs Conduct rules and the Firms code of conduct
  • Undertake all regulatory training as prescribed by the company and comply with all policies relevant to your role
  • Immediately report any known conflicts of interest in line with company policy
  • Satisfy on an ongoing basis the companys fit and proper requirements which as a minimum shall take account of your: Honesty integrity and reputation Competence and capability andFinancial soundness.

Key skills and experience to be evidenced within your application include

  • Experience in relevant industry or in similar role
  • Experience working in multinational companies or organisations
  • Strong analytical communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to anticipate and respond to a range of privacy and data protection compliance challenges (including changes to the law new regulatory guidance and local emerging risks) and identify pragmatic costeffective solutions.
  • Able to communicate effectively with data subjects regulators commercial partners and other external stakeholders irrespective of national boundaries and cultures.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • A CIPP/E certification or other equivalent privacy or data protection certifications
