Job Description

Overview:

The Manager of Supplier Quality Development plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of products and services sourced from external suppliers. They are responsible for developing and implementing quality standards processes and systems to improve supplier performance enhance product quality and mitigate risks. This role is instrumental in maintaining strong supplier relationships and driving continuous improvement in the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement supplier quality strategies and objectives.
  • Conduct supplier audits to assess compliance with quality standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to resolve quality issues and drive corrective actions with suppliers.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the supplier quality team.
  • Monitor and analyze supplier performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure alignment with quality requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in supplier quality processes and practices.
  • Lead and support supplier qualification and development activities.
  • Manage and resolve supplier quality nonconformances and corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Participate in the selection and approval of new suppliers.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance supplier quality awareness.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of supplier quality metrics and KPIs.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality agreements with suppliers.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to supplier quality.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory) with Supply Chain Management Quality Management diploma as a plus.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in supplier quality management or related roles within the Rail industry. (companies that manufacture Couplings engines etc for rail)
  • Demonstrated experience in leading supplier development and improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems standards and tools (e.g. ISO 9001 Six Sigma Lean etc.).
  • Proven experience in conducting supplier audits and driving corrective actions.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to drive root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to lead and develop a highperforming supplier quality team.
  • Outstanding communication negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Strong project management abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in using quality and data analysis tools (e.g. statistical software Minitab etc.).
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to supplier quality and procurement.
  • Certifications in quality management or supplier quality (e.g. CQM CQE CSSBB) are a plus.
  • Ability to travel as required to visit suppliers and attend relevant industry events.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a crossfunctional and global environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
