CMU-Q conducts its education and research mission under CMU direction and in 2023 we will award 105 CMU degrees to graduates. Senior Network Operations Engineer Core Responsibilities - Implement, monitor, and fix network systems to ensure reliable and secure network access - Gather information to evaluate networking performance, troubleshoot network problems, and identify user needs and determine network requirements - Deploy, configure, manage, and monitor Wireless, LAN/WAN, Firewall/VPN Networks, including deploying and supporting network technologies and services such as TCP/IP, routing, switching, zoning/security, VPN, DNS, DHCP, 802.11 wireless LANs, Data Center networking solution - Maintain accurate and updated documentation - Respond to tier 3 support requests regarding network issues, troubleshoot, and determine resolution for network issues - Good communication, documentation and presentation skills - Additional project oriented duties will be assigned. • *Qualifications**: - Bachelor's degree in Computing Engineering/Computer Science required (or a combination of education and meaningful work experience) - 3-5 years of Network Administration, Network Deployment and Support, and/or Network Security Administration experience required - CCNP-Cisco Certified Network Professional - Cisco Systems, Inc. preferred - Aruba Networks experience and/or certifications desired. Other wireless vendor experience and/or certifications will be a plus - Experience with cloud connectivity and service deployments and/or operations. Desired Skills - Solid understanding of TCP/IP (IPv4 and IPv6), Network types (intranet, extranet and internet), Address Planning, IP Services (DHCP/DNS) - Experience on L2 technologies VLAN, Trunking, RSTP etc. and L3 Routing Protocols such as OSPF, BGP etc. using IOS and IOS-XE - Experience and knowledge of Cisco Data Center standards and protocols such as vPC, Spine/Leaf, VXLAN etc. - Experience setting up security and VPN solutions using Cisco Firepower/ASA or similar next-generations Firewalls - Experience with Network Monitoring Systems (SolarWinds/ ManageEngine etc.) and troubleshooting using Syslog, Splunk, Wireshark etc.
