Salary: Up to 64000 DOE
Contract Type: Permanent

This key role in the Strategic Projects team offers the opportunity to join the organisation at an exciting time on our Road to 2030 journey with lots of high profile investment and business change projects.
  • You will lead on the delivery of project and programme management for key strategic initiatives working with colleagues and senior leaders.
  • The initiatives involve people structural cultural and business change.
  • Strong relationship management and the ability to demonstrate the value of project management to a diverse audience will be critical.
We are looking for someone with experience of applying good practice across a complex environment.

To be successful you will engage through your excellent interpersonal skills to bring your stakeholders with you. Depending on the assigned initiative you may also have the opportunity to matrix manage project managers and other team members. supporting their development through coaching and management of deliverables.


About the Organisation and Team

Committed to developing an outstanding teaching and learning experience for their students whilst also building a researchrich culture to address some of the biggest challenges facing society today.
Key to delivering this agenda is our portfolio of strategic projects which will help transform the organisation and enhance their offer to students staff and the wider community.
These represent major strategic investments by the University aimed at generating a stepchange; therefore they are typically large scale highly complex and involve multiple stakeholders across the institution.

The portfolio is managed by the Strategic Projects team which provides dedicated highquality project and programme support.
It ensures crossproject oversight and control standardised reporting and management of risks issues and project benefits.
It adopts a range of project management methodologies according to the specific needs of each project.
Typically projects will involve representatives from IT HR External Relations and Estates Facilities and Capital Development (EFCD) alongside academic leads a senior sponsor from the University Executive Group (UEG) and external stakeholders.

As the successful candidate you will join a growing Strategic Projects function that provides Project and Change Management capability to drive forward delivery of our key strategic initiatives. You will join a supportive growing and influential team playing a pivotal role in supporting senior leaders.

The role provides the opportunity to work with leaders deliver the benefits of change and ensure that staff involved in or impacted by change are engaged positively.

You will:
Engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels to win credibility through effective relationships and delivery
Define and develop the initiative workstreams and deliverables required. Identifying workstream leads forming delivery plans and addressing resource implications as required
Have a good understanding of business change and how it enables benefit delivery
Ensure that progress risks and issues are effectively and appropriately communicated to key stakeholders utilising appropriate governance to facilitate timely decisions
Lead the initiative ensuring that there is a core and consistent set of roles responsibilities and approaches across the team
Ensure good communications with all stakeholders both within the project and outside particularly with leaders About you:
Significant relevant experience of change and project or programme management within HE or a similar sector
Possess PRINCE2 APM or an equivalent Project/Programme Management qualification
Effective stakeholder engagement and negotiating skills including the ability to influence across the organisation
Have a proven track record of working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels
Experience in managing others especially within a project/programme environment which is fastpaced and confidential
Experience of implementing significant change in processes structure culture and ways of working
Excellent written and oral communications skills illustrated through proficient use of Powerpoint Word and similar app
