Salary: Grade 9 ( 46974 to 54395)

This key role in the Project Management Office (PMO) of our Strategic Projects team offers the opportunity to join the organisation at an exciting time on our Road to 2030 journey with lots of high profile investment and business change projects.

About the Organisation and Team

Committed to developing an outstanding teaching and learning experience for their students whilst also building a researchrich culture to address some of the biggest challenges facing society today.
Key to delivering this agenda is our portfolio of strategic projects which will help transform the organisation and enhance their offer to students staff and the wider community.
These represent major strategic investments by the University aimed at generating a stepchange; therefore they are typically large scale highly complex and involve multiple stakeholders across the institution.

The portfolio is managed by the Strategic Projects team which provides dedicated highquality project and programme support.
It ensures crossproject oversight and control standardised reporting and management of risks issues and project benefits.
It adopts a range of project management methodologies according to the specific needs of each project.
Typically projects will involve representatives from IT HR External Relations and Estates Facilities and Capital Development (EFCD) alongside academic leads a senior sponsor from the University Executive Group (UEG) and external stakeholders.

As the successful candidate you will join a growing Strategic Projects function that provides Project and Change Management capability to drive forward delivery of our key strategic initiatives. You will join a supportive growing and influential team playing a pivotal role in supporting senior leaders across the university in the delivery of transformational business change through your oversight of the Strategic Projects PMO.

So what kind of things will you be doing with us
  • Use your initiative to help and develop our maturity and ways of working across all parts of the lifecycle.
  • Take responsibility for key planning governance and resourcing activities.
  • Play a key role in the preparation of reports papers and cases for review by leadership.
  • Work with the Director of Strategic Projects and Head of Portfolio to develop the teams service offering.
  • Apply your knowledge of PMO methodology to bring robust assurance governance and project delivery processes to the organisations flagship portfolio of strategic projects.
  • Be responsible for managing the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) and its continued development.
  • Ensure the team provides highly effective programme and project office services including good practice guidance standards and effective assurance to enhance the efforts of programme and project teams.
  • Manage a team of Project Support Officers Comms and PMO staff playing an important role in servicing the portfolio.
