Job Description

Position Overview:

As a Health Information Specialist you play a pivotal role in advancing clinical performance by overseeing the abstraction review and reporting of medical record clinical documentation. Your contributions are instrumental in supporting initiatives focused on quality improvement accreditation and regulatory compliance. In addition to scanning and importing electronic patient medical records youll identify key data elements and meticulously interpret and abstract them into patient electronic health records. Your responsibilities also extend to assisting with OnBase Document Management and providing training for Fax Server usage.



Requirements


  1. Knowledge Maintenance: Maintain current knowledge of project requirements related to clinical data abstraction.
  2. Clinical Data Skills: Keep clinical data abstraction skills uptodate.
  3. Medical Terminology: Sufficient knowledge of medical terminology standard medical abbreviations and pharmacy terms.
  4. Mathematics: Sufficient knowledge of mathematics.
  5. Technical Proficiency: High proficiency in operating a standard desktop and Windowsbased computer system including EMR/EHR software/templates NextGen Epic Microsoft Word and Excel intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required for essential job functions.
  6. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms including proper phone etiquette. Ability to speak before groups of people either inperson or virtually.
  7. Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a teamoriented environment displaying a courteous and friendly demeanor.
