Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the Corios rapidly growing offshore wind business and support the transition to a low carbon sustainable global economy.

Corio was developed under the Green Investment Group and remains a subsidiary of Macquarie Group (Australias largest investment bank) so we have strong financial support to drive the business forward.

Responsibilities:

The Engineering Department is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to be Corio Generations technical authority for geotechnical engineering across our global portfolio of offshore wind projects. You will be part of a group of experienced and talented offshore wind professionals in Corio Generations Engineering team. The core responsibilities for this role include:

  • Subjectmatter specialist within the organization for geotechnical activities across Corio Generations global portfolio of offshore wind projects.
  • Support multiple projects in different phases of development and execution including strategic input to scoping of site investigation campaigns and laboratory testing interpretation of data for use in design activities and installation planning.
  • Provide professional advice on design and installation methodologies for foundations and cables from a ground characterization perspective based on the knowledge acquired on the ground conditions of the site. This shall include input into engineering strategies / risk levels and commercial agreements for the packages to ensure that cost effective technical solutions are identified evaluated and that the risk profile is understood by the project.
  • Crossproject coordination and management of geotechnical surveys for offshore cables and foundations seabed preparation works and shallow geotechnical surveys.
  • Support the delivery of multicontract packages within time to budget and quality following the highest industry practice and observing the maximum respect for HSE to ensure regulatory and legal compliance.
  • Provide strategic support to the definition of Corios global geotechnical investigations strategies.
  • Support Corios Procurement team in the coordination of site investigations tender processes evaluation of suppliers and management of site investigation contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practice and awareness of latest developments in technology including the assessment of suitable new technologies to project pipeline (identifying potential to reduce cost and risk or improve safety).
  • Support the certification process with independent verification bodies (where applicable) to reduce geotechnical design risk and enhance asset value.
  • Focal point for the geotechnical interface with foundation design activities leading interpretation of factual data obtained from offshore surveys for design and installation studies.
  • Lead foundations installation assessments such as driveability studies or back analysis of foundation driving records.
  • Time schedule budget control and interdisciplinary coordination for site investigation and data interpretation activities if responsible for survey management.
  • Oversee and supervise project specific resources coordinating site investigations such as external contractors/secondees consultants marine contractors and others.
  • Contribute to the identification and management of technical risks issues and impacts to subsequent design and installation activities.
  • Secure lessons learned feedback from projects to Engineering and other relevant stakeholders.

Experience and qualifications

We are looking for a person with the following qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in offshore wind covering the responsibilities described above combined with a bachelors degree in geotechnical engineering as a minimum.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of planning managing and executing offshore site investigations for large scale projects.
  • Suitable knowledge and experience of analysis and geotechnical design of largescale offshore structures.
  • Knowledge and experience of geotechnical data management software such as GINT Geodin and Holebase.
  • Proven experience of contract management and the procurement process.
  • Technical leadership and project management skills.
  • Experience in delivering complex technical scopes as part of large EPC projects in either development or construction.
  • Experience with working and delivering results in a matrix organisation developing largescale projects globally.
  • Strong communicator and comfortable working with little structure and oversight.
  • Fluent in English. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
