Job Overview:
As a Mill and Lumber Industry Subject Matter Expert, you will leverage your expertise to provide clients with technical guidance, innovative solutions, and industry best practices, with a focus on the IT aspects of the Mill and Lumber industry. You will be responsible for the following key tasks:
Domain Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the lumber mill industry, including its processes, operations, challenges, and regulations, to effectively identify and address business needs. Elicit, analyse, and document business requirements: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, gather, and analyse requirements, and create clear and concise documentation, including business requirement documents (BRDs), Customer signoff for BRDs, functional specifications, and user stories. Experience in supporting IT Project execution in Agile Methodology. Manage Product Backlog. Priority Sprint Backlog with Development Team. Facilitate communication: Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders (Mill manager etc.) and technical teams (IT Development team) to ensure clear understanding of requirements and facilitate communication throughout the project lifecycle. Perform gap analysis: Identify gaps in current systems and processes, and recommend improvements or changes to meet business needs. Create process maps and workflow diagrams: Develop visual representations of business processes, including current state and future state, to provide a clear understanding of process flows and potential areas for improvement. Assist in project management: Support project managers in planning, monitoring, and controlling projects by providing input on scope, timelines, and resources, and ensuring that project deliverables align with business requirements. Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT): Develop test plans, test cases, and test scripts, and work with end-users to ensure that developed solutions meet their needs and expectations. Support implementation and change management: Assist in the implementation of new solutions, including training users, providing documentation, and supporting change management efforts to ensure a smooth transition. Monitor and measure project success: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of implemented solutions and identify areas for further improvement.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's/master's degree in business administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Forestry, or a related field.
- Proven 7-10 years of experience as a SME in the IT industry, preferably 5+ years in Mill & Lumber industry domain.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with business analysis methodologies and tools, such as BABOK, UML, BPMN, and Agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of project management principles and experience working on cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in using software tools like Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and project management tools like JIRA or Trello.
- Relevant certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, or PMI-PBA are a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity.
