Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough credit analysis on loan applications, evaluating credit reports, financial statements, and other relevant documents.
Assess credit risk and determine the creditworthiness of applicants based on established criteria and policies.
Collaborate with loan officers and other team members to structure credit transactions that align with the companys risk appetite
Perform due diligence on applicants to verify information and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Ensure all credit decisions adhere to company policies, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Prepare and maintain accurate and complete credit files, including financial data, correspondence, and credit reports.
Communicate credit decisions to internal stakeholders and, when necessary, provide explanations to applicants.
Monitor existing loan portfolios to identify potential credit issues and recommend appropriate actions.
Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and compliance requirements related to credit underwriting.
Prepare and present credit reports and portfolio analysis to senior management.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years first hand consumer credit underwriting experience for UK based secured/unsecured consumer lending.
Ability to maintain a working pipeline of applications through to offer.
Educated to degree level in highly numerate discipline.
Working knowledge of the FCA Handbook, particularly CONC
Ability to develop underwriting procedures and tailor to the firm s client base.
Ability to maintain underwriting procedures and assessments on a continual basis.
Proven critical analysis of information pertaining to the financial standing of prospective borrowers and taking appropriate action where required.
Ability to communicate decisions and rationale effectively.
Day-to-day ownership and responsibility for loan underwriting approvals
