We're Tibber, a tech company with the mission to empower people to use energy in a smarter way and to lower the energy being used unnecessarily all around the globe. We develop products and solutions that help people reduce, or optimize their electricity consumption. We're already helping over 1 million households and we're aiming for more!
We are now looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Smart Energy area of Tibber, where we build smart integrations and optimizations to all kinds of energy-using devices like cars, wall boxes, thermostats, batteries, and solar inverters. All with the aim to be the smart choice for each device individually as well as holistically, in a home with multiple devices working together. This also enables the grid to be more flexible. In addition to that, we also produce our own hardware, like real-time Pulse meter and the home battery Homevolt.
Tibber works in the area of IoT and we produce some of our own hardware from scratch. Your role will be responsible for working on the backend software for some of our own hardware as well as some of our partner's hardware. One of our most appreciated products in this area is Tibber Pulse which can be used as a complement to the Tibber app. This lets you track your electricity usage in real time and tells you what you can do to lower it, which benefits the environment as well as your wallet.
We also have the Homevolt battery, Homevolt is the complete package: a high-quality consumer battery from Polarium, with all the brains from Tibber s connected software that follows the market electricity prices hour by hour. Together, this makes for an unbeatable product that will revolutionize the energy storage market.
Building and maintaining device integrations. This will be for our own hardware as well as some of our partner hardware too eg. batteries, inverters, heating etc.
Implementing backend logic. This is to be done to our own hardware products, the Pulse and Homevolt.
Optimization of usage. Working on the optimization of energy usage from a device, customer, and grid point of view.
Collaboration and improving ways of working. Contributing to general architecture, best practices, and engineering culture at Tibber.
Tech expertise. Comfortable designing and maintaining software in technologies like .Net, Python, and Node.js. (These are the technologies you will be working with).
Microservices experience. Knowledgeable with microservices architecture in high throughput cloud environments.
Relevant experience. Experience with IoT or any device integration is a huge plus for this role.
Industry expertise. Understanding of the energy industry is a bonus.
Culturally in sync. Curious and collaborative mindset with a bold yet humble approach to engineering.
*What is able to be offered above varies from location to location.
