The developers must be skilled in full-stack, Java-based web tools and experienced in both large scale, mission critical core applications, as well as creating webservice API system interfaces. There will be projects and assignments in both of these technical development activities. The intention is that one developer will be assigned to an application development team, and the other will be assigned to develop various API interfaces.
The development teams are responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing web-based applications to meet the operational and administrative needs.
Multiple API data web service interfaces between O-TRACK and external law enforcement and other allied agencies. Also, API interfaces and connection points with other in-house or vendor provided computer applications and operational devices operated by these agencies.
Application development and access for mobile devices and other emerging technologies.
Application security issues and initiatives.
The Developers participate in the analysis, designing, coding, testing, configuration, implementation and ongoing maintenance support of core, mission-critical software applications. These activities are managed by Project Managers and Information Analysts, normally in development teams that include other Developers, Database Administrators, Internal testers, and a network of user Business Analysts and Subject Matter Experts. Together, they collaborate through well-organized and established development processes and tools.
The positions require a high level of expertise and broad experience in web application development. The Developers must be able to work effectively in teams, follow collaborative processes, efficiently interpret design documentation, troubleshoot and fix bugs and problems, and efficiently produce functional code independently without assistance. The development team has established methodologies and standards for most coding tools and approaches. A core technical group guides the need for evolving coding techniques.
