- Support the CFO in overseeing the accounting functions of the organization, including monthly book closures, review and preparation of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flows), reconciliation of accounts, leading the annual audit process, and researching accounting issues.
- Ensure the accuracy and clarity of financial information in compliance with GAAP and governmental regulations, contributing to the overall management of the accounting department.
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close functions, ensuring timely and GAAP-compliant transaction recording.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for derivative positions, focusing on mark-to-market assessments.
- Direct and integrate process changes into accounting systems and the overall accounting cycle.
- Oversee all aspects of cash management, conducting daily cash-flow analysis and forecasting.
- Execute the corporate financial/statutory reporting process, including quarterly MBFRF and Call Reports.
- Prepare monthly reports for Warehouse Credit Facility Covenant compliance.
- Manage and provide training for the accounting staff, emphasizing cross-training initiatives.
- Research technical accounting issues as necessary to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with other accounting personnel to implement internal control procedures.
- Coordinate the annual financial audit, placing emphasis on HUD requirements.
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy.
- Ensure precision in financial reporting and timely issuance of reports.
- Establish and maintain budgeting/forecasting models.
- Undertake other related duties as assigned.
- Controller/Accounting in the Mortgage industry required.
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
- CPA license.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience to the table.
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role.
- Possesses sound judgment and critical thinking skills, evaluating facts and data to make informed decisions while considering downstream impacts and associated risks.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment, exhibiting a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
- Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail and a highly organized work approach.
- Displays patience and professionalism in interactions with both internal and external customers.
- Upholds ethical standards and is committed to company values.
- Proficient in data entry, PDF software programs, and Microsoft Word and Excel.
